LNS Spitsbergen AS (LNSS) is a subsidiary of Leonhard Nilsen & S\u00f8nner AS. LNSS has 109 employees. <\/p>\n

– LNSS was responsible for the construction of the Global Seed Vault<\/a> on Svalbard on behalf of Statsbygg.\"LNS

\nLeonhard Nilsen & S\u00f8nner AS (LNS) is Northern Norway\u2019s largest construction company and is also ranked as the 10th largest construction company in Norway. The company specializes in tackling demanding projects in locations with challenging logistics. <\/p>\n

‘s core business is the construction of roads and tunnels. The company owns several mines and also serves as an operating contractor for several mining companies. <\/p>\n

Through its subsidiary LNS Spitsbergen AS (LNSS), LNS has a significant presence in Svalbard<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Projects in Norway and Abroad
\nIn recent years, LNS has been involved in a number of major projects. Among other things, the company has participated in the development of the Lofoten mainland connection, the new E18 highway between Grimstad and Kristiansand, and the construction of a new shipping port for ore pellets in Narvik. LNS has also been responsible for the construction of the UN Global Seed Vault on Svalbard. <\/p>\n

The company has extensive experience working beyond Norway’s borders, with projects in Iceland, Greenland, and Antarctica. LNS has also established a separate company in Chile, and since the summer of 2009, LNS has been involved in a major tunnel project in Hong Kong. <\/p>\n

The LNS Group consists of a total of 13 companies, all of which are owned by Leonhard Nilsen & S\u00f8nner Eiendom AS. The companies’ operations range from road and tunnel construction to concrete production and mining. <\/p>\n

The History of the LNS Group<\/strong>
\nLNS was founded in 1961 by Malvin Nilsen and his father, Leonhard Nilsen. From these humble beginnings, the group has grown to include 13 companies as of 2008, with the third generation now actively involved. <\/p>\n

The headquarters are located in Ris\u00f8yhamn in Vester\u00e5len. The group has projects throughout Norway, on Spitsbergen, in Antarctica, Hong Kong, and Chile, and has recently completed projects in Russia, Greenland, and Iceland. In other words, LNS\u2019s projects span from the North Pole to the South Pole. <\/p>\n

In the early days, the fleet was modest and consisted of a truck, a bus, and a taxi that operated in the local area.<\/p>\n

LNS currently has a very large and modern fleet of machinery and is at the forefront of developing and utilizing new technology.<\/p>\n

The journey to becoming the group we see today\u2014with around 800 employees and revenue exceeding 1.6 billion\u2014has been exciting and winding, marked by many milestones.<\/p>\n

The Coast Guard base in Sortland (established in 1979) led to an expansion of LNS\u2019s fleet
\nThe Stagnes base in Harstad (established in 1983) was the first major contract LNS secured in competition with national contractors
\nArnesfjellet in Ballangen (1983) marked LNS\u2019s entry into mining operations
\nThe Steigen Tunnel (1986) was LNS\u2019s first-ever tunnel construction project
\nLNS expanded to Svalbard (1999) as a provider of logistics services for Svalbard\u2019s cornerstone company, Store Norske Spitsbergen Coal Company
\nThe Almannaskard Tunnel in Iceland (2004) was LNS\u2019s first project abroad
