Marc Rune, a.k.a. Big Creek Slim, grew up in Ikast in central Denmark, but after countless trips to the American South, the vocalist and guitarist has developed his own style with deep roots in the Black blues. He has settled with his family in a cabin by the sea in Florian\u00f3polis, on a tropical island in Brazil. His most recent release to date is a duo album with Brazilian bassist Rodrigo Mantovani, which came out in April of this year. In 2024, he released the live album \u201cGoing to Germany.\u201d <\/p>\n\n
Slim plays classic Delta and Chicago blues inspired by artists such as Muddy Waters, Howlin\u2019 Wolf, and John Lee Hooker. When he visited Svalbard in 2017, he performed alongside Danish musician Peter Nande, American Terry Hanck, and the Finnish Tomi Leino Trio. At this year\u2019s Dark Season Blues, he\u2019ll be teaming up with Kent Erik Thorvaldsen from Totning. Last year, the vocalist, guitarist, and harmonica player from The Jelly Roll Men released his solo debut, \u201cSugg!\u201d. On it, he plays \u201cold-school blues,\u201d as he puts it, in the Totning style. And while The Jelly Roll Men play 1940s- and 1950s-style Chicago blues, Kent Erik goes even further back to the true origins of primitive blues in Mississippi. Thorvaldsen received a Spellemann nomination for the album, which he released digitally early this year. <\/p>\n\n
