\nThe hotel was completed in March 1995 after a wing from the former Tr\u00e5seth Hotel (The Americans\u2019 sponsor hotel during the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics) was transported to Svalbard. The service section containing the restaurant and lobby was designed by the Polish architect Krystjan Dolatowski. His inspiration taken from Hiorthfjellet gave rise to the design of the high ceiling, giving the restaurant an almost sacral atmosphere with mountains greeting you as you walk into the room.<\/p>\n
\nThe hotel has 95 rooms whereof 42 standard rooms, 25 superior rooms, 28 apartments (four-bed rooms) and 1 suite. All rooms are well equipped with on-suite, TV, telephone and mini bar. Our superior rooms are located on the first floor, and they all have view towards the mountain Hiorthfjellet or Isfjorden.<\/p>\n
\nBooking one of our superior rooms or the suite, we guarantee you a room with the best available view, espresso maker, bathrobe and slippers, and also the latest edition of the local newspaper, Svalbardposten, in your room. The suite has two rooms with a bathroom and a living room. From January 1st 2008 all our rooms are non smoking rooms, and we do no longer offer any rooms where smoking is allowed.<\/p>\n
\nThe Radisson Blu Polar Hotel Spitsbergen received the Nordic Eco-label \u2018Svanemerket\u2019 in 2010, after 2 years of dedicated work by all departments. This distinction is the strictest certification which can be achieved in the hospitality industry.
