Dark Season Blues launches new four artists

Dark Season Blues 2026 adds four new strong names to the program; southern stories from Grayson Capps, Swedish banjo punk from Baskery, Notodden blues from Spoonful of Blues and dark, poetic harmonica magic from Richard Gjems & The High Rollers.

For the first time, the legendary Grayson Capps comes to Svalbard

Southern troubadour and storyteller Grayson Capps is an artist who leaves his mark. Born in Alabama, formed in New Orleans and with roots in theater, Americana, blues and raw storytelling, he delivers concerts you won’t forget. For Dark Season Blues, he will be joined by guitar virtuoso Corkey Hughes and Eskil Aasland on drums. With albums such as Heartbreak, Misery & Death and music from the movie A Love Song For Bobby Long in his luggage, true southern magic awaits.

The Swedish Bondesson sisters of Baskery bring their unique blend of banjo punk, newfolk, Nordicana and explosive live energy to Dark Season Blues. Greta, Stella and Sunniva have toured the world and been handpicked to support artists such as Gary Clark Jr, Robbie Williams and Brandi Carlile. With five albums behind them, most recently V: End of the Bloodline, and Neil Young interpretations on The Young Sessions, Baskery offers a concert experience out of the ordinary.

Spoonful of Blues from Notodden is back with new energy and a new line-up. Following the release of Songs From Notodden Norway, the band has received a brilliant response both at home and abroad, with full houses in Denmark and new international festival gigs on the calendar. Frontman Jostein Forsberg leads the way with vocals and harmonica, well supported by Øystein Ytterbø, Jens Fjelle, Eskil Aasland and Tony Caddle. This will be real, live Notodden blues on Svalbard.

Richard Gjems brings his band The High Rollers to Svalbard

Richard Gjems is considered to be one of Europe’s foremost blues harmonica players, with collaborations ranging from American blues names to Stein Torleif Bjella, Malin Pettersen and DumDum Boys. With The High Rollers, he shows a darker and more distinctive side of the blues, where slow riffs, americana, heartland rock and poetic lyrics merge. The album One Hand Clapping opens up a blue dreamscape of distorted guitars, bewitching harmonica and songs about obsession, spirits and lost love.
