Sven Zetterberg Blues Band (SE)

Sven Zetterberg Blues Band

Swedish musician Sven Zetterberg (61) is considered one of the Nordic region’s greatest blues artists. Forty-one years of intense touring have made him a crowd favorite. Last year, he was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in New York as the “Master Blues Artist from Sweden”!

Zetterberg started out as a harmonica player, inspired by Mick Jagger and Sonny Boy Williamson, and didn’t take up the guitar in earnest until he was 24. He made his recording debut with the band Telge Blues in 1975, and has since released a number of albums. In 1985, he quit his job as a postal driver to play full-time. His most recent release to date is “Mileage” (2012).

Zetterberg has developed a distinctive style that blends blues and soul, inspired by artists such as Bobby “Blue” Bland, Otis Rush, B.B. King, and Big Walter Horton, all complemented by his incredible singing voice.

Sven has been collaborating with our very own Knut Reiersrud ever since the 1980s, and at Dark Season Blues 2013, they will be performing together again for the first time in years.
