Guitarist Arne Skage is a veteran of the blues/roots/americana scene in Norway. As a musician from (Rita & Frank) Eriksen’s heyday to 30 years as blues king Reidar Larsen’s right-hand man, Skage’s distinctive slide guitar has been heard on hits and stages since 1990. As a producer, Skage has made two albums with Myrull and two with Joe Rusi, including the Spellemann-nominated “Who i Am” in 2015, and Daniel Eriksen’s Spellemann Award winner “Barefoot Among Scarecrows” from 2020.
After participating in over 70 record productions for other artists, he made his solo debut in February 2021. “Procrastination Blues” received good reviews at home and abroad. Last year saw the release of his follow-up, “Rootwork”, which, like his debut, has an unmistakable smell and taste of jambalaya and gumbo. The album was partly recorded in New Orleans with local musicians as guest artists. This year’s Dark Season Blues is Skage’s Svalbard debut as a solo artist.
