It’s special to finally be able to welcome Bjørn Berge to Dark Season Blues. Longyearbyen Blues Club was founded a few days after a concert with Bjørn Berge here in town in August 2000.
The Haugesund native has been a one-man band since he made his album debut with “Blues Hit Me” in 1999. He made an exception with the electric trio album “Who Else?” in 2019, but earlier this year he returned to the acoustic landscape – with and without a band – with “Heavy Gauge”. But that doesn’t mean he’s backing away from the need for punch, no matter what the guitar looks like or how many strings it has. Berge mixes different genres, from pop to funk, from rock to blues. It sounds fierce and raw, hard and soft. This mix has earned him two Spellemann awards and the blues prize at the Notodden Blues Festival. He has released 12 studio albums in addition to a live album. As a live artist, he is just as active in Europe as in Norway. Now he can be experienced at Dark Season Blues.
