Terry Hanck (US) | Dark Season Blues

Terry Hanck won the 2016 Blues Music Award for Best Horn. In 2014,he won the ISC Award (International Songwriting Competition) in the BLUES Category and in 2012 swept both the Blues Music Awards and the Living Blues Award for Best Horn.

With a golden voice the Chicago-born South Florida-based silver-haired saxman, singer, bandleader and songwriter, knows it is good to live in a world of classic New Orleans R&B, steamy strolls, gorgeous soul ballads and West Coast jump blues.

In 1977 Hanck joined Elvin Bishop’s (ex The Paul Butterfield Blues Band) band at the third time of asking. He remained until 1987 when he left to form his own outfit.

He has led his own band for more than 28 years, creating classic songs that ache with yearning, explode with joy and keep the young and the young at heart on dance floors across America and around the world.

Backing Terry Hanck at Svalbard is Finnish Tomi Leino Trio, who also backs Danish Big Creek Slim and Peter Nande here in Svalbard. Tomi Leino is a critically acclaimed guitarist and harmonica player.
