Dark Season Blues 2026

The 23rd Dark Season Blues will take place October 22–25, 2026.

Dark Season Blues is a unique and atmospheric music festival that takes place in Longyearbyen on Svalbard every October, right at the start of the polar night. The festival marks the beginning of the long polar night, when the sun disappears below the horizon and leaves the archipelago bathed in a magical blue twilight. This creates a truly special setting for the festival, which fills the Arctic town with warm melodies and rhythms.

The festival brings together local, national, and international blues artists who perform on intimate stages throughout Longyearbyen. The concerts take place in venues ranging from small pubs to the historic Huset, and the close connection between the artists and the audience creates a unique atmosphere. It’s not uncommon to hear soulful live music while the Northern Lights dance across the sky outside.

Dark Season Blues is more than just music—it’s an opportunity to experience the unique Arctic nature and culture. Between concerts, you can take part in activities such as dog sledding, snowmobile tours, and guided excursions through the spectacular Svalbard landscape. The festival combines magical musical experiences with the raw and unforgettable beauty of the Arctic.

If you love the blues and are looking for an unforgettable cultural experience in one of the world’s most exotic settings, Dark Season Blues in Svalbard is a festival you won’t want to miss!
