Inception

Every year, we invite a youth band to Dark Season Blues, and this year we chose Inception.

Inception is a young blues-rock band from Akershus that draws heavy inspiration from 1970s music. The band was formed in 2009 and has since played numerous concerts organized by the Skedsmo Blues Club. Since its inception, the band has undergone some lineup changes, and today they are coming to Svalbard as a quartet.

In the fall of 2011, the band released a four-song EP. They play music in a genre that has deep roots in the blues but also ventures into classic rock and blues rock. They have a reputation for being a band that is very active on stage and radiates a lot of joy in playing.

This summer, they reached the finals of the Union Blues Cup for the second time; their dream was to win, which would have allowed them to perform in Svalbard in the summer of 2013 as part of the winning band’s tour schedule. They came in second, and the disappointment was so great that the band was put on hold.The surprise was all the greater, then, when our booking manager called them and invited them to Dark Season Blues 2012. “I was absolutely certain they had dialed the wrong number, and I had to have it confirmed several times that it really was us who were invited to Svalbard,” Kim Reenskaug said afterward.

DSB hopes to inspire them to continue pursuing their music and warmly welcomes the four young men to this year’s festival.
