Erik Harstad has been touring the country for years with various blues bands and is a familiar face at Norwegian blues clubs. Now he has revived his old band, The Buzz Brothers. Together, they create blues music with a modern sound, clearly inspired by classic American blues from the 1950s and 1960s. Their repertoire is a good mix of original compositions and songs by artists such as Freddie King and Ronnie Earl.
Today’s lineup of Buzz Brothers includes Harstad himself on guitar and vocals, Jon Reidar Furulund on drums, and Arild Steinsrud on bass. Furulund worked with Adam Douglas in The Douglas Group and later High Red, and has also toured with big names like Robben Ford, Kirk Fletcher, and Josh Smith. Steinsrud got his first bass guitar in 1978 and has toured all over Norway with the band Nickels & Dimes. He also has a solo project called The Secondhand Smokers.
