Erja Lyytinen is born in Kuopio, Finland, and has a masters in music from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. A guitarist and vocalist, Lyytinen released her first album, «Attention», in 2002, the first of ten released to date.

Apart from being a great singer, Lyytinen is a fantastic guitarist, especially on the slide guitar. After releasing her first albums with different labels, she then created her own company, Tuohi Records, and took full control over her releases.
