Kai Fjellberg & The Kings Of Joy (NO)

Kai Fjellberg has been playing with his Kings Of Joy since he started promoting the album ‘Gravel Roads’ (2021) after the pandemic. The solo debut contains ten original songs penned by Fjellberg himself with various musical contributions from different parts of the Norwegian blues community.
Kai started his musical career in the late 90s, and after moving to Trondheim in 2000 he slided into the blues – from Little Andrew to now The Blues Express. Geir Bertheussen Blues Express, as the band then was called, was nominated for the Spellemann Prize in 2018. The following year they took second place in the European Blues Challenge final in the Azores outside Portugal. With Bertheussen out of the band, the rest continued as The Blues Express. Recordings in Clarksdale, Mississippi and Austin, Texas, with subsequent live albums, are other milestones for this band.

Kai Fjellberg & The Kings Of Joy consists of Fjellberg on vocals and guitar, Per Øyvind Winther on vocals and drums and Raymond Bartholdsen on vocals and bass. Everyone in the band sings. Winther and Bartholdsen both have played in Snekker Nilsen Bluesband, and they also have backgrounds from bands such as The Blues Express, Winthers Blue Groove and Ray Moon Band.
