Mike Andersen began playing guitar in Southern Jutland at the age of 12. Thirty-two years later, he has long since established himself as one of Denmark’s best-known soul and blues artists, songwriters, and busiest musicians. This has earned him several music awards. Over the past 25 years, he has performed over 1,500 concerts in more than 20 countries, both with his band and as a solo artist.
Even as a teenager, he played in various bands at bars and venues, and around the same time he began writing songs. At age 16, he moved to Aarhus, where he quickly became part of the city’s vibrant music scene. At age 22, he started the Mike Andersen Band, which debuted with the album “My Love For The Blues” in 2002. Their breakthrough came with their third album, “Echoes” (2010). A few weeks ago, his ninth album, “Raise Your Hand,” was released, recorded analog and live in the studio to capture the sound of a tight-knit band. During this year’s Dark Season Blues, Mike can be seen performing both with a full band and as a solo artist.
