He started playing guitar in Southern Jutland when he was 12 years old. Thirty-seven years later, Mike Andersen has long since established himself as one of Denmark’s best-known soul and blues artists and songwriters, with a slight nod to Americana and rock as well. This has earned him several music awards and a level of popularity that has taken him on concert tours to more than 20 countries over the past 30 years. Five years ago, he performed both solo and with a band at Dark Season Blues; this year, we’ll get to hear his smooth, precise guitar playing and soulful voice in solitary, majestic splendor.
Even as a teenager, he played in various bands at bars and venues, and around the same time he began writing songs. At age 16, he moved to Aarhus, where he quickly became part of the city’s vibrant music scene. At age 22, he formed the Mike Andersen Band, which released its debut album in 2002. Their breakthrough came with their third album, *Echoes* (2010). When he released his all-acoustic solo album *One Million Miles* in 2019, it went straight to the top of the Danish Vinyl Top 20 chart and stayed there for several weeks. Last year, he released his tenth album, “All Out Of Love.” The title of both this album and his debut album, “My Love For The Blues,” feels very fitting for our Danish friend’s feelings when it comes to music.
