The rambunctious trio Run, consisting of Morten Omlid (guitar/vocals), Jostein Forsberg (vocals/harmonica), and Eskil Aasland (percussion/vocals), play blues and rock “straight from the heart”—inspired by RL Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Canned Heat, the White Stripes, and The Doors.
Omlid, Forsberg, and Aasland are restless musical souls who need more places to play. Their musical expression is shaped by Mississippi’s dark secrets, Chicago’s wild nightlife, and the Telemarkers’ wild take on folk music and humor. In addition to Spoonful of Blues, you may recognize the members of Run from Rita Engedalen & Backbone, Notodden Blues Band, The R&B Express, and others.
Run goes back to the roots of rock and gathers musical fragments and scraps from Africa, the U.S., England, and Norway. Then they gather it all into a massive bonfire, douse it in jet fuel, light it up, and see what happens. The result is an explosion of all the sparkling colors of roots music. You better Run!
