This fall marks 24 years since Vidar Busk took the Norwegian blues scene by storm with his debut album, *Stompin’ Our Feet With Joy*. The album was released during the Notodden Blues Festival, where he celebrated winning the festival’s blues award with a fantastic concert.
Vidar followed up with the album *I Came Here to Rock* (1998), won the Spellemann Award for Artist of the Year, released *Atomic Swing* (1999), and was nominated for the Spellemann Award in the rock category. In the 2000s, he expanded his musical palette with three chill-out and funk-inspired albums. Live, he has long since returned to the blues, and in September, a blues comeback finally arrived on record in the form of “The Civilized Life.” Drummer Martin Windstad has taken over for Alexander Pettersen, but Arne Rasmussen (harmonica) and Rune Endal (bass) from the original lineup are still on board. Johnny Augland, who produced the debut album, contributes on piano, B3 organ, and guitar.
Now that this band is heading to Svalbard to play at Dark Season Blues, the audience can, as usual, expect a full-on T-Birds-inspired show, swinging blues, soulful ballads, and red-hot guitar playing.
