Grainne Duffy

Grainne Duffy returns to Dark Season Blues for its 10th anniversary
Grainne Duffy

Ireland’s rising star of blues and roots, Grainne Duffy, delivers an incredibly groovy and natural blend of soul, R&B, blues, and rock ’n’ roll, with a voice that takes your emotions to the very edge. We got to experience this firsthand at Dark Season Blues 2010, when she took Longyearbyen by storm with her powerful performance.

Grainne is from Castleblaney, which lies on the border with Northern Ireland, halfway between Dublin and Belfast. She has a college degree in music, where she studied classical music and jazz. It wasn’t until after she graduated that she decided she wanted to play rock ’n’ roll and blues.

Grainne Duffy is described as a spicy cousin of B.B. King or Bonnie Raitt, and much of her music straddles the boundaries between soul, blues, rock, and country. She is the perfect genre-bending artist for Dark Season Blues and our audience.
