Jan Arild Sørnes & The Elektriske Bandet (NO)

More and more people are listening to Jan Arild Sørnes & The Elektriske Bandet. Live, they are an intense experience at the intersection of blues and soul with one of Norway’s best voices in the genre. They have made successful appearances at clubs and festivals, and the feedback has been brilliant.

Blues and soul in northern Norwegian are not common fare, and the debut album “Livets blues” was very well received, including 5 out of 6 stars in Bluesnews, when it was released in 2014. In April this year, Sørnes & Co. released “Storm”, an album that became part of Jan Arild’s own therapy after the terrorist attack on Per på hjørnet, Herr Nilsen and London Pub 25. June 2022. He was not offered any help from the public sector, as his home address is in Finnmark. Jan Arild was one of those who had to throw himself to the ground to hide from the bullets. Eventually, he crept into Herr Nilsen, where he had just played a concert.

The band he brings to Svalbard consists of Jan Arild Sørnes (vocals), Paul “Palle Groove” Wagnberg (Hammond B3 / piano), Lasse Weeden (bass), Axel Arnesen (guitars), Sigbjørn Thomassen (guitars), Thomas Hildrum (drums), Ola Welo (saxophones) and Rune Haglund (trumpet).
