American musician Mike Farris made a strong impression when he first performed at Dark Season Blues in 2022. When he was asked last year to step in as a replacement following a cancellation, he jumped at the chance and returned to Dark Season Blues as a solo artist. This year, we’ll get to hear him perform with his own band.
For about ten years, Farris was the frontman for the band Screamin’ Cheetah Wheelies, which played a mix of Southern rock and blues in the style of Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers Band. He has also fronted Double Trouble, Stevie Ray Vaughan’s former backing band, but has released five solo albums since 2002. In 2015, the album “Shine For All The People” won a Grammy Award in the roots/gospel category.
In March 2025, Farris released his first studio album since 2018, “The Sound of Muscle Shoals”, which has received rave reviews. It’s a love letter to the famous Alabama studio and the eclectic music created there: blues, R&B, soul, gospel, and rock. We look forward to hearing our Svalbard friend Mike Farris again!
