Svalbard Reiseliv. Tourist information and destination company in Svalbard. Polar bear on coat of arms - Nature rules - natura dominatur

The logo of Svalbard Reiseliv AS
A visual identity has been developed for the tourism industry in Svalbard, which is organized through the umbrella organization Svalbard Reiseliv. Tourism is Svalbard’s second largest source of income, and is based on the vision of environmentally friendly stay and travel. The tourism industry’s goal is for Svalbard to be the best-preserved High Arctic wilderness, and the polar bear symbolizes the desire for conservation. In addition, tourism wants to make use of the polar bear’s presence – there are 3,000 polar bears in Svalbard. To elevate the polar bear, it has been incorporated into a coat of arms accompanied by the slogan Natura Dominatur – which is Latin for “Nature rules”.
