Joakim Tinderholt & The Rhythm Three are coming to Svalbard to treat you to some raw and captivating blues.
At nearly 30 years old, Joakim Tinderholt is already a highly experienced guitarist, vocalist, and entertainer.
Since launching his career 12 years ago, he has performed alongside international blues stars such as James “Super Chickan” Johnson, Rick Holmstrom, Mitch Kashmar, RJ Mischo, Kid Andersen, and others. He is now considered one of Norway’s leading performers of traditional R&B and blues.
After Joakim had been hanging out in Muddy Waters’ circles in Oslo for a while, he formed the band Joakim Tinderholt Express together with Bill Troiani, Aleksander Pettersen, and Håkon Høye in 2005 ( names well known to us here in Svalbard), and it was with this band that he performed at Dark Season Blues in 2009. Many were impressed by this powerful blues singer and talented guitarist.
Joakim is now returning to Svalbard to perform at the Midnattsolbluesen festival, and he’s bringing a relatively new band with him: Joakim Tinderholt & The Rhytm Three.
Joakim Tinderholt & The Rhytm Three is a young and exciting band that was formed in the fall of 2011. They play classic R&B, blues, and rock ’n’ roll. Their sources of inspiration include old heroes like Ike Turner and Johnny “Guitar” Watson, as well as rising stars like JD McPherson.
In addition to Joakim himself on guitar and vocals, the band consists of Lars Lindland on double bass, Robert Skoglund on drums, and Kjell Magne Lauritzen on keyboards.
The lineup that makes up Joakim Tinderholt & The Rhytm Three has, since their debut at The Crossroad Club, been reserved for the more exclusive occasions.
